What We Provide for You
Almost every young person cannot wait until they get their driver’s license. The first step, however, is getting your permit. We offer a class, five times a year, that walks students through what it takes to get their permit. Our volunteers walk alongside students as they learn rules of the road, what is expected on the written test, what paperwork they need to have and the seriousness of a driver’s permit.
Students have an opportunity to practice driving on a simulator and a golf cart, they take practice tests that give them an idea of what to expect, and we have experienced law enforcement officers who help them to know what is expected of them if they experience a traffic stop. Once the class is complete, we take them to the DMV to walk them through the process of testing for their SC Driver’s Permit.
